Pete De Vit
After about 10 years, Pete Moore or “Lejazz” or “Pete De Vit” is still playing records at La Raza. Raised on a diet of Jungle from the age of 13 onto Jazz, Funk, Soul, Dancehall, Techno, House and anything else with an off centre vibe, Pete guarantees you will dance, cry, get angry, stop being angry and start making love whenever you hear him play.
And that alone has to be worth the entrance price.
Sit, eat, drink, dance! Enjoy an evening of intriguing twists on many well known, and indeed not so well known covers, fused with dashes of original material and the odd experimental loop for good measure. Owen will play where the mood takes him. A comfortable blend of swelling ballad-esque moments, and more upbeat “fun time” vibes, all from behind a piano, with occasional collaborating guest performers.
Swagger – from 11pm
5-piece function band
Funk . Rock . Cheese
‘Swagger’ is what happens when you unite five talented guys from very different musical backgrounds and make them play songs from any decade and every genre.
Multi-instrumentalist Owen Chambers & Matt Start front the band with an impressive display of musical versatility, ranging from rhythmic piano backing to modern synth sounds and trumpet solos. Their lead vocals are brilliantly complimented by the harmonising tricks of the rest of the band, whose jazzy solos soar over Tiago Coimbra’s filthy funk bass lines. The blues-rocking of VessPopov (Guitar) thus completes an eclectic mix of musical tastes and abilities that is best enjoyed late, standing on a table with your arms in the air and singing at the top of your voice.
Special Valentines menu + Owen Chambers of SWAGGER, the function band sensations, will be singing & performing a selection of laid back, relaxed & romantic songs on piano to suit the evening, with backing acoustic band INNA LIGHTS, or as they’ll be known for one night only, INNA LOVE.
